Shea butter is an excellent moisturizer with many uses, says natural beauty products expert Spirit Demerson. In this video, she explains all the ways you can use shea butter to treat dry skin. Shea butter is actually the fat of the nut of the African Shea tree. It's really rich in vitamins A and E and fatty acids so it does make an excellent skin moisturizer; it's almost solid at room temperature but melts right at skin temperature which means it absorbs really nicely into the skin as a great texture for extra dry skin. Another lovely thing about Shea butter is that despite how rich it is and how hydrating it is for extra dry skin it's actually noncomedogenic so it doesn't clog pores and it won't cause breakouts if you use it on the face and if you need to you can just use it on cuticles, extra dry spots like elbows, knees, heels; it can be used as a skin conditioning treatment if you just apply it to something like your heels or any calloused areas and apply a hot towel with warm water in it over that almost as a compress so that the steam allows it to penetrate even deeper, hydrating the skin at a even deeper level. So Shea butter is a great product to have just for multiple multiple hydrating uses in the home.

Healing Keloids
Usually self-diagnosable
Keloids often are lumpy or ridged. The scar rises after an injury or condition has healed, such as a surgical incision or acne.
People may experience:
Skin: lumps, darkening of the skin, swollen blood vessels in the skin, or redness
Also common: itching
Very common
More than 3 million US cases per year
Treatable by a medical professional
Usually self-diagnosable
Lab tests or imaging not required
Chronic: can last for years or be lifelong
A keloid is caused by an excess protein (collagen) in the skin during healing.
Keloids often are lumpy or ridged. The scar rises after an injury or condition has healed, such as a surgical incision or acne.
Keloids aren't harmful and don't need treatment. I, myself, don't like the raised scars that keloids cause, they are unatractive and really stand out on my dark skin. In using Shea Butter daily, I have noticed an amazing decrease in scar tissue. I have one on my upper right arm that has been there since I was a kid, tom boy running with my brothers, climbing a chain link fence i got caught on the top as I jumped down on the other side. I actually dangled there with the skin of my arm caught, as my brothers laughed at me. Thanks bros, still a little touchy about that. So, everytime I looked at it, flashback. I am so happy this old scar is clearing up. Thanks Shea Butter! Hopefully I will soon come across a picture and do a before and after scenario.

Natural Scar Removal with Shea Butter

When a wound, burn or pimple does not heal completely, the connective tissue that grows under the skin becomes hard and fibrous, resulting in a mark that appears on the skin. This mark is called a scar and can vary in shape, size, color and texture.
There are different types of scars including pitted scars (resulting from acne, pimples or surgery wounds), keloid scars (raised and bumpy scars resulting from overproduction of collagen in the skin), contracture scars (resulting from burns) and more.
The best way to avoid the formation of scars is to take proper care of your wound, allowing it to heal properly and eating skin supporting foods such as sea fish, avocado and blueberries to supply your body with ample nutrients to heal and repair damage. Also make sure you are drinking plenty of water to keep your skin moisturized from the inside out so that wounds heal well and scars are minimized.
However, once scars are formed there are natural remedies that you can use to reduce their appearance, fade them and try to get rid of them all together. One of the BEST remedies for scar removal, hands down, is shea butter, a natural plant fat that is harvested from the nuts of the African Karite tree and is rich in so many nourishing and therapeutic ingredients that can fade and reduce all sorts of scars.

How to Use Shea Butter for Scars

  • Use it plain by simple dipping into your raw shea butter and applying it on your scars.
  • Whip it with rose water or coconut oil with a hand mixer for a smooth fluffy scar removal lotion.
  • Make a massage oil by melting shea butter and mixing it with olive oil and firmly massage your scar area to break down old and hardened scar tissue and stimulate blood circulation to the area.
  • Mix it with essential oils that are known for erasing scars and stretchmarks, such as helichrysumfrankincense and lavender, and apply to scars.
  • Exfoliate the scar affected areas with a natural exfoliating agent like oatmeal or baking soda in order to remove dead cells before applying shea butter.
  • Apply shea butter on scars at least 3 times a day, including a night time application, for best results.
